Back in the day, Google was pretty aggressive when it came to making tablets. That all came to an end in 2019 when the company called it quits on its tablets, but later changed their mind with the launch of the Pixel Tablet. But that could change again as apparently, Google has canceled their plans for the Pixel Tablet 3.
According to a report from Android Headlines, they have learned from their source that Google has canceled the development of the tablet. The tablet would have been originally slated for a launch in 2026 after the Pixel Tablet 2 in 2025. This means that if the Pixel Tablet 2 launches, it could be the last tablet we’ll be seeing from Google in a while.
If the report is accurate, we’re not sure if there’s really a point to the Pixel Tablet 2 since not many people might be willing to invest in a product if they know there isn’t going to be a future for it. However, it is possible that development and manufacturing might have already gotten too far for Google to call it off.
It is unclear why Google has decided to call it quits on tablets again. Perhaps the sales of the original Pixel Tablet didn’t go as well as the company had hoped, leading them to rethink their decision. The Pixel Tablet 2 is expected to launch in 2025 where recent reports suggest that it could also launch with a keyboard accessory. Maybe if that’s well-received Google could revisit their plans again, but maybe we shouldn’t get our hopes up just yet.
