It’s been a good number of years since we’ve seen a proper laptop from Google. The Pixel Book and Pixel Book Go were the last Google-branded Chrome OS computers, and ever since their discontinuation there’s been no indication that Google was intending on developing a successor. That is, until now.
If rumors are to be believed, then there’s a good chance that the Mountain View tech giant will soon start work on a new laptop, which will remain under its “Pixel” branding. Reports claim that an internal company email refers to the device with the codename “Snowy,” which is intended to compete with other high-end laptops such as the Microsoft Surface line and Galaxy Chromebook line.

It’s believed that the project is now greenlit and has moved beyond the concept phase. Interestingly, it’s expected that Google will ship the laptop with Android onboard instead of Chrome OS. One thing to note though is that the version of Android on the laptop will be different, as it will integrate features of Chrome OS within Android in a bid to compete with Apple’s iPad line.
