If you’re not a fan of ads on YouTube, short of using an ad blocking extension, subscribing to YouTube Premium is your best option. This is why it is understandable that some YouTube Premium users are a little annoyed when they started to see ads in their videos when they shouldn’t be seeing them.
According to user reports, it seems that some YouTube Premium users are seeing ads in their videos. Like we said, this shouldn’t be the case. Pre-roll and mid-roll ads are typical in videos if you’re not a Premium subscriber, but you shouldn’t see them if you are subscribed. It is unclear why that is the case.
According to a post on Reddit, one user reached out to customer support who told them that, “promotional ads can sometimes appear for specific partnerships or limited-time offers”. They also added that this “could be due to a variety of reasons, such as your location, your viewing history, or a specific marketing campaign.”
Interestingly enough, what the rep told the user seems to contradict what another YouTube rep told the folks at 9to5Google. “We occasionally offer YouTube Premium subscribers with exclusive access to a variety of rewards through our trusted partners – which can be found on their benefits page. YouTube Premium subscribers should not be shown any pre- or mid-roll ads and should contact support if this does happen.”
Hopefully this is just a bug or glitch in the system that will be fixed or has been fixed.
