Soon YouTube Shorts will no longer be short

0

In this day and age where we want to consume content as quickly as possible, it has led to the rise in short video clips from platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. But now it looks like YouTube has decided to increase the length of its Shorts clips from a minute up to three minutes in duration.

This change will come into effect on the 15th of October, which means that videos uploaded before the date will not be affected. At the moment, YouTube Shorts can only run up to a minute in length, or a minimum of 15 seconds. This change should allow creators to create slightly lengthier content for better engagement and storytelling.

It is quite ironic since Shorts were designed to be quick little videos. However, we can’t say we’re surprised. Longer videos allow creators to be more creative and they feel less abrupt. Plus, the way Shorts has been designed, users can quickly jump from one clip to another if they feel it’s getting too draggy.

Speaking of which, YouTube has also announced that they are working to improve the recommendations of longer Shorts videos in the coming months, making them easier to discover. If you’re a creator that regularly uploads Shorts, then this is a change you can look forward to.
