Following the expanded roll-out of Google’s Gemini Live for English language users, it looks like we’ll finally see the feature arrive for more languages and users worldwide. More specifically, Gemini Live will be available for more than 40 languages, and it’ll also be able to tap into more Google apps with Extensions.
Google says that starting today, Gemini Live will feature support for French, German, Portuguese, Hindi, and Spanish today, with additional incoming support for 40 more languages in the weeks to come. Users can add a language by opening the Google app and tapping on their profile picture, followed by Settings > Google Assistant > Languages and then selecting a supported language. Users can add a second language, as Gemini Live will be able to support two languages at a time.
Additionally, Google will be expanding Extensions in Gemini for tools and apps including Calendar, Tasks, Keep, and Utilities, which will also support different languages. It should be noted though that Extensions are currently not available on Gemini Live.
Gemini Live was originally unveiled during the Made by Google event alongside the new Pixel 9 series phones, with Gemini Advanced subscribers getting priority access. Google says that users have found conversing with Gemini to be more “engaging” compared to text-based conversations.
