How to create a Samsung Account

Recently, Samsung made some changes where users who wanted to access the Galaxy Store will now have to have a Samsung Account. If you have been accessing the Galaxy Store all this while without an account, you’ll have to make one if you want to keep using it and getting app updates. The process is quick and simple, so here’s how you can go about and create a Samsung Account.

Create a Samsung Account

1. On your Galaxy phone, launch the Settings app
2. Tap on “Samsung account”
3. Select “Forgot password” or “Don’t have an account?”
4. Tap on “Create Account”
5. Agree to the terms and conditions
6. Fill in the necessary information and when you’re done, tap on “Create account”
7. Enter your phone number and tap “Send”
8. You’ll receive a verification code, tap “Verify”
9. You’ll be asked to verify your email address
10. Tap on “Go to inbox”
11. Follow the instructions in the email and you’re all set

What is a Samsung Account?

Your Samsung Account is basically similar to other accounts like Apple ID, your Google account, and so on. Because Samsung creates many products and services, having a single account to link them together will be useful if you’re part of the ecosystem.

For instance, you can use your Samsung Account to connect various Samsung SmartThings devices together. You can also use it with Samsung Cloud and Samsung Pay. Keep in mind that having a Samsung account isn’t mandatory. If you’d rather not create a Samsung Account, you can still access the Google Play Store on your phone for all your apps.
