In addition to its PlayStation brand and strong lineup of home electronics appliances, Sony is also known for its Xperia line of smartphones. In the past few years, the company has reduced its once-crowded smartphone selection to three main models, which consist of the flagship Xperia 1 devices, midrange Xperia 5 phones, and the budget-friendly Xperia 10 phones.

While the Xperia 1 VI and 10 VI have already been launched this year, some fans are wondering as to whether or not we’ll see the Xperia 5 VI, which is still missing from Sony’s 2024 phone lineup. New reports however claim that the company will not be launching an Xperia 5 VI model, and will instead continue selling the Xperia 5 V from last year.

This comes from information following a press conference which was attended by general managers from Sony, in which the company observed more users switching from the Xperia 5 series to the 1 series, opting for the most premium handset in the lineup. At the moment, there’s no word if the 5 series will be discontinued moving forward.
