DJI is no stranger to drones. The company makes drones in a variety of sizes. But if you’d rather not deal with the hassle of registering your drone with the FAA, then you might want to take a look at DJI’s latest drone which the company has unveiled at IFA 2024. This comes in the form of the DJI Neo.
The DJI Neo is the company’s lightest and most compact model to date. But don’t let its size fool you. Despite being extremely cute and tiny, the Neo offers exceptional video quality and can record video at 4K resolution. This is thanks to the 1/2-inch sensor that also allows it to capture photos at 12MP resolution.
DJI is also taking its compactness to the extremes where you can even fly the drone without a remote control. It can launch and land on your palm simply by selecting the mode on the drone’s body. It even supports automatic Return to Home, so if you’re new to piloting a drone, this feature could be a godsend
That being said, there are certain limitations to the drone compared to DJI’s other bigger and more expensive models. For starters, it does not come with OIS. The smaller sensor could also prove to be an issue in lower light situations. There is software-based stabilization, but your mileage may vary.
The DJI Neo also comes with a built-in 1,435mAh battery that the company says is good for up to 18 minutes of flight time. It can fly at speeds of up to 60kmph. If you’re interested in the Neo, it is priced at $199 for the basic model, and $289 for the three-battery pack combo.
