We’ve been hearing rumors of a potential slimmer version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. So far, it has been referred to as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, but according to tipster Evan Blass, he claims that it might launch under a different name.
According to the post on X, Blass claims that it will be called the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Yes, it’s even dropping the “6” from the name, despite the rumors that it is apparently based on the Fold 6, except that it will be a slim version of the handset.
We’re not sure why Samsung would deem this variant to be a “Special Edition”. From what we have heard so far, it will be largely similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, except with a much thinner body. The rumors are claiming that it will measure a little over 10mm thick. For context, the current Galaxy Z Fold 6 measures 12.1mm.
This is a much thicker device compared to other competing handsets like the recently launched Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold which measures 10.5mm. It is also thicker than the Honor Magic V3 which comes in at a pretty slim 9.3mm. Either way, last we heard, the handset is slated for a launch this September. If that’s accurate, we should have the official details soon.
