Instagram testing new Spotify integration feature

Ever wanted to let people know on social media what songs you’re currently listening to? Previously, there was a way Instagram users could share their Spotify songs on their Stories, but now it looks like Instagram is adding yet another new feature.

According to a post on Threads by Alessandro Paluzzi, it looks like Instagram is testing out a new Spotify integration feature. This is basically where users can display on their Instagram notes what song they are currently listening to on Spotify. What’s different about this compared to the previous iteration?

When you upload to Instagram Stories, it only shows what you were listening to. It might not be relevant 5 minutes later, 1 hour later, 6 hours later, you get the idea. With this new feature, it seems that your Instagram notes will constantly be updated with the current song that you’re playing.

We’re not sure how many people actually bother with Instagram notes, but if you’ve always wanted to show what you’re listening to, this could be a feature to look forward to. It doesn’t appear to be live yet for all users, and for now it seems like it might only be available for Spotify users. So if you’re on Apple Music or Tidal or another streaming service, you could be out of luck.
