Google might have confirmed when Android 15 will roll out for its Pixel devices

Google’s brand new Pixel 9 phones are the first Pixel devices not to ship with the latest version of Android. This is because Google announced the new Pixel phones much earlier than expected. But if you’re looking forward to Android 15 on your Pixel, then we might have a launch date for you.

According to a report from Android Authority, it seems that Google has confirmed that the Android 15 update will begin rolling out in October. The publication first heard about this from one of their sources. It was later seemingly confirmed by Google themselves in the release notes for the Android Beta Exit update.

In the release notes, it says that, “If you are waiting for the Android 15 stable update, please ignore this OTA till Android 15 is available in October.” Unless the October date was merely a placeholder, Google might have quietly confirmed Android 15 is releasing in the next couple of months.

In all honesty, we’re not surprised. Android 14 was also released in October, so to see Android 15 released in a similar timeframe makes sense. Of course, one thing to note is that Google’s Pixel devices will be the first to get the Android 15 update. Non-Pixel phones will have to wait for their OEMs to push it out, which could be either by the end of the year, or maybe even in the early part of 2025.
