Players of Nintendo’s “Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp” might want to keep an eye on their calendars, following the company’s announcement that it will be reaching its end of service on 28th November 2024 at 4pm BST / 8am PT / 11am ET. The announcement was made via Nintendo’s social media pages, and affects both the Android and iOS versions of the game.
On the bright side, Nintendo says that it will replace the game with a new offline replacement that will allow users to transfer their save data. The replacement will be a paid app, although it will also retain the same mechanics and gameplay, sans micro-transactions. Of course, some features like gifts and online player visits will no longer be available.
Additionally, players will need to link their Nintendo Account to their current save data in order to transfer their save files.
Nintendo’s efforts in the mobile gaming space haven’t been the most impressive in the past few years. While the veteran game company remains a force to be reckoned with in terms of dedicated console gaming, its mobile games could have fared a bit better. Nevertheless, a completely playable offline version without tons of in-app purchases is a much-welcome effort on Nintendo’s behalf.
