Google recently announced that it will be pushing out new updates for Google Meet, which include tweaks to the user interface as well as some nifty new features. While the company wasn’t specific about the rollout date for these new features, it did state that these will arrive over the next few months for users worldwide.

The app’s call interface now has a different look and feel which makes it easier for users to initiate or answer calls, and Google adds that the mobile app now has a redesigned layout, and access to new features including live captions, over 70 languages, as well as real-time chat integrated directly into video calls. Folks can also stack effects like filters, backgrounds and accessories, and even use emoji reactions with a single tap during calls.

For mobile, the will also support screen sharing, allowing users to show onscreen content to other callers. There’s also a new “on-the-go” mode on Android and iOS, which is essentially an audio-only experience with larger, easier-to-press call control buttons, and users will be able to instantly switch to another supported device with the on-the-go feature.
