Microsoft’s Announces a Surprising Change for Skype

0

Some might call it “hell freezing over” – but kidding aside, it looks like Microsoft is set to remove ads from Skype, which comes alongside a new update for the app. The once-infamous feature will soon be but a memory, and this was confirmed by Skype product manager Irene Namuganyi:

Our latest update removes all ads from Skype channels and the entire Skype platform, ensuring a smoother, decluttered, and more enjoyable user experience.

With that being said, Skype will no longer feature ads across different platforms, and Microsoft adds that the decision came with great consideration on user feedback and wants users to focus on their chats without distractions from ads.

In addition to this, the update also comes with new changes to the app’s dedicated AI Image Creation tool, and direct access from the chat window or the top bar, as well as a revamped user interface. Skype now also supports OneAuth integration for iOS, and will allow users to sign in automatically to Skype if they are already signed into another Microsoft app.

For bug fixes, the update also addresses media attachment issues over 5G connections, as well as users being unable to answer during an active call notification.
