Most keyboard apps handset makers bundle with their phones are functional. But in terms of native apps, Samsung actually does a pretty good job with the Samsung Keyboard app thanks to the support of extensions. Unfortunately, it seems that for whatever reason, Samsung has decided to remove support for some of them.
So far, the extensions that are no longer supported on the Samsung Keyboard include Grammarly, Spotify, and YouTube. Like we said, it is unclear why support for them has been removed. However, it is speculated that one of the reasons is because the extensions allow users to bypass parental restrictions for YouTube and Spotify.
This gives kids access to content that is potentially age-inappropriate. As for the Grammarly extension, that remains a mystery. Perhaps it’s an agreement with Grammarly that has expired, but until Samsung or Grammarly offers an explanation, that’s just speculation for now.
It is kind of disappointing to see some of these extensions go away. They are quite useful as they help users stay within whatever app they’re using without having to swap out. Grammarly is also great for checking typos and grammar if that’s important for you. Hopefully we’ll see these extensions return in the future.
