The Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6

Samsung has had the biggest lead when it comes to foldable phones. But we feel that they have been kind of complacent, where their latest foldables don’t really feel like much of an upgrade. Thankfully, Google isn’t wasting time trying to get a leg up on the competition, where the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro Fold is said to be thinner compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

According to a report from Android Headlines, they have gotten their hands on the possible dimensions to the handset. Their source tells them that the phone will measure 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.5mm when folded, and 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.1mm when unfolded. For context, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 measures 153.5 x 132.6 x 5.6 mm when unfolded, and 153.5 x 68.1 x 12.1 mm when folded.

This means that Google’s next foldable phone measures 1.6mm thinner when folded, and 0.5mm thinner when unfolded. What’s odd is that when it comes to the weight of the phone, it is heavier. The Fold 6 weighs 239 grams, but the report suggests that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will weigh 257 grams.

We’re not sure where the added weight comes from, but it is going to be a heavy handset. This might factor into the decisions for some customers who might not want such a heavy device. Either way, we’ll have all the official details in the coming weeks, so check back with us then for more updates.
