First things to do on your Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra!

0

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is the latest smartwatch from Samsung. It is also one of the company’s most interesting wearables in a long time. Unlike previous Galaxy Watch releases, the Galaxy Watch Ultra seems to want to go head-to-head with the Apple Watch Ultra, where it represents a premium and rugged smartwatch. If you just got your hands on the Galaxy Watch Ultra, then here are some first things you might want to do with your new wearable.

Manage notifications

A smartwatch is a useful companion to your phone. It can show you notifications which is useful if your phone isn’t near you. But what if you don’t want double notifications? Then it might be a good idea to set this feature up first before it gets annoying.

  1. Launch the Settings app
  2. Tap on Notifications
  3. Tap on “Show phone notifications on watch”
  4. Select “Show alerts when phone not in use”

Once this option is selected, you will only get notifications from your phone on your watch when you’re not using your phone. You can select “Show alerts even when phone in use” if you don’t mind getting double notifications.

Raise to wake

When we use regular watches, we just need to raise our wrists to our face and we can see the time. If you want to replicate that experience, make sure this feature is enabled on your Galaxy Watch Ultra.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap on Display
  3. Under “Screen wake-up”, make sure “Raise wrist to wake” is enabled

Keep in mind that this feature has the potential to drain the battery faster. This is because sometimes when you raise your wrist other than to look at the time, the display turns on. But we reckon that this is a convenience that we’re willing to sacrifice a bit of battery for. If you disagree, then turn it off.

Automatically detect workouts

If you’re new to using a smartwatch, you might not have the presence of mind to turn on workout tracking. This means sometimes you forget to track an entire session or only track it partially. The Galaxy Watch Ultra has a feature that automatically detects workouts, and here’s how to turn it on.

  1. Launch Settings
  2. Tap on Health
  3. Scroll down to “Auto detect workouts”
  4. Toggle on the feature that says “Activities to detect”
  5. You can tap on the feature if there are specific activities you want to turn on or turn off

Set up emergency calling

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra comes with an SOS emergency call feature. This will allow you to make a quick emergency call on your watch which is useful if your phone is out of reach. To enable this feature:

  1. Launch the Settings app
  2. Go to Safety and emergency
  3. Tap on Emergency SOS
  4. You can now edit information like the emergency number to call and also who to send messages to
  5. Now whenever you press the home button on the Galaxy Watch five times, it will activate the emergency calling feature

Display your medical information

We know that some of you might suffer from certain illnesses or conditions that will require specialized medication or treatment. Or you might have an allergy to certain types of medicine. If you’re unconscious, that is hard to convey to emergency responders, so setting up your medical information could be useful.

  1. Launch Settings
  2. Tap on Safety and emergency
  3. Tap on Medical info
  4. Configure it according to your medical condition or allergies
