One of the perks of using Android phones is the ease of being able to sideload apps. Unfortunately for Samsung users, it seems that the company has made it difficult when it comes to sideloading apps on their new foldable phones.
According to reports, there is a change to the Auto Blocker feature in One UI 6.1.1. For those unfamiliar, Auto Blocker is a feature that blocks the installation of apps from outside sources. It’s designed to be a protective feature. Prior to this, it was turned off by default. Users would have to manually enable it if they want.
But now with this change, Auto Blocker is now enabled by default. This means that Samsung phone owners with One UI 6.1.1 will run into issues sideloading apps unless they turn it off. Interestingly enough, it seems to override Android’s own permissions. Android already has a protection feature that blocks the installation of apps from unknown sources.
According to reports, even if you allow that feature in Android, Auto Blocker overrides it so you have to disable that too. It is annoying but thankfully, it is an easy fix. If you do sideload apps or plan to, make sure you turn it off first.
