It has the latest software from Samsung, the latest hardware from Qualcomm, all in all it should be a fantastic experience. Unfortunately, you could run into issues. If you do, sometimes a reset is all you need. If you’re wondering how to reset your Galaxy Z Flip 6, then read on to find out.
Hard reset your Galaxy Z Flip 6
A hard reset, also known as a factory reset, essentially wipes your phone of all its data. This includes files you’ve stored on it like music, photos, and documents. It also wipes data like messages, apps, and so on. Basically, it takes your phone back to when you just bought it.
We usually caution against hard resetting your phone simply because it can be tedious to reinstall or restore everything again. However, sometimes there are certain issues that persist and a factory reset is required to deal with it.
If you find yourself in a position where you need to factory reset/hard reset your Galaxy Z Flip 6, here’s what you need to do.
- Unlock your phone
- Go to the Settings app
- Tap on General management
- Scroll down and tap on “Reset”
- Tap on “Factory data reset”
- You’ll be greeted by a warning about the factory reset procedure, and if you’re sure, tap on “Reset”
- Samsung will ask you again if you really want to proceed, and if you do, tap on “Delete all”
If you’re in a situation where your phone won’t even load Android but you want to perform a hard reset, here’s how.
- Turn off your phone
- Connect your phone to your computer via its USB cable
- Once it’s connected, press and hold the Volume Up and Power button at the same time
- You will now enter Recovery mode. You can navigate the Recovery menu by pressing on the Volume buttons to move up or down
- Scroll down to “Wipe data/factory reset” and press the Power button to confirm your selection
- Select “Factory data reset” and press the Power button again to confirm
- Once that’s done, select “Reboot system now” and press the Power button to confirm
Depending on how many files are on your phone, this process can take several minutes. Make sure you have backed up all your data and connect it to a charger during the reset process. Once it’s completed, your phone will be like it is brand new all over again.
Soft reset your Galaxy Z Flip 6
From time to time, our phones can act up. There are a number of reasons this could happen. A buggy software update, an app misbehaving, corrupted files, and so on. In some cases, you don’t need to factory reset your phone to make it work properly again. Sometimes a soft reset is all you need.

- Alternatively, instead of selecting “Power off”, you can tap on “Restart”. It more or less accomplishes the same thing, but maybe if your phone is overheating, shutting it down and letting it cool off for a few minutes might be a better idea
But what if your phone has hung and pressing buttons doesn’t seem to do anything? Here’s how to force restart your Galaxy Z Flip 6.
