Google Announces Changes to Purchases on Google TV

0

Google recently announced that it will be pushing new changes to how users can purchase TV shows from Google TV. Going forward, users will no longer be able to purchase TV episodes and seasons from Google TV via Google TV devices, Android TV devices, and the Google TV Mobile app.

Instead, users will now have to buy their TV shows from YouTube, subjct to regional availability. It seems that Google wants to use YouTube as a main conduit to provide users with content such as music, movies, and TV shows.

With that said, folks can still access their previously purchased movies and TV shows, including active rentals and entire TV seasons, regardless of where the purchase was made. These will remain accessible on Google TV devices, Android TV devices, the Google TV mobile app for Android and iOS devices. With that said though, any TV shows purchased on YouTube moving forward will only be accessible through the YouTube app or on YouTube.

Recently, 9to5Google reported that Google is preparing to launch a new 4K Chromecast model, which is rumored to come with a new remote design as well. Additionally, Google will supposedly retain the same $49.99 price tag as on the older model.
