Google Adds new Play Store Features for Easier Content Discovery

0

Google recently unveiled some big changes with regards to how users can discover content on the Play Store. As such, folks using Google Play can expect a much easier approach to hunting for both new and favourite apps on the platform.

For one, Google announced Curated spaces which cover different apps and games. The company has recently partnered with major Japanese comic (or manga for you purists out there) publishers to develop a new curated space for comics in Japan. This will include free first chapter previews, live events and trailers, and reviews. For games, Google now features multi-select interest filters that lets users manually specify their preferences and interests.

Speaking of games, Google Play Pass will include new offers in Asphalt Legends Unite starting on July 24, as well as in Call of Duty: Mobile and Candy Crush Saga later on August 1. Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance will also be joining the Play Pass catalog later this month.

Google adds that new Play Pass subscribers in the U.S., UK, Australia, Japan and Korea can get 80% off for their first three months (for a duration of over the next three weeks).

More interestingly, Google is also launching “Super Weekly Prizes” which offer Diamond, Platinum and Gold members the chance to win prizes like Pixel devices, Razer gaming products and merchandise. This will be available in the U.S., Great Britain, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

Additionally, Google is also launching a new “Collections” experience widget to highlight relevant content from multiple apps directly to a user’s home screen. Curated categories like Shop, Watch and Listen displays content from apps that a user has already installed.
