Google Wallet to become your all in one hub!

0

Google is finally making a push to become an all-in-one platform for all of your wallet needs. As discovered by @assembledebug on X; Google Wallet is due to be rolling out an update allowing just about anything to be added to your wallet. This means everything from random insurance details, to library cards, concert tickets, or reservations can all now be found in the Google Wallet app.

The tech around it is pretty interesting! The Google Blog doesn’t tell us too much about what’s happening here, but we do get a nice short video showcasing what is happening under the hood.

It allows you to make a digital pass of anything you may physically have. This could be useful for things like old library cards or festival tickets. Judging by the app, you seem to be able to take a photo of your pass and it will copy down the core information. If possible, it’s able to identify if the information is insurance-based and then digitally register that correctly.

This can be super handy for those times you need the information in a pinch but don’t have the hard copies handy!

While we don’t have a set date for when this will universally roll out to devices. Our friends over at Android Central were able to confirm that as of today, some handsets should already be receiving the update. So keep your eyes peeled for this latest update coming to your Google Wallet app.
