Pixel 9 could come with free access to Gemini Advanced

0

Google is expected to announce their new Pixel 9 smartphones soon. We expect that the phones will come with AI tools and features, which in Google’s case will be Gemini. But now a report from TheSpAndroid suggests that owners of the Pixel 9 series could get a free subscription to Gemini Advanced.

This is according to a string found in the latest beta of the Google app. It reads, “Your Pixel Pro gives you access to a 1-year subscription to Gemini Advanced, our most capable AI model with priority access to new features, at no cost to you.”

For those unfamiliar, Gemini Advanced is a paid version of Gemini AI. For basic AI tools, Gemini is more than capable. However, those who might have more complex requests, Gemini Advanced will unlock more advanced tools and features. One thing to note is that the string mentions the “Pixel Pro”, suggesting that maybe only the Pixel 9 Pro will have a free year’s subscription to Gemini Advanced.

There was another string that mentions the base Pixel device which only gets a free six month subscription. Considering how Google is reportedly increasing the price of the Pixel 9 series, we suppose a free subscription to Gemini Advanced could make up for it. It also goes to show how companies are planning to start charging users to access its AI tools, making it another potential revenue source.
