Samsung hasn’t given up on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra

0

Earlier this year, we heard rumors that Samsung could be preparing more than one variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, an “Ultra” model to be exact. However, the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 last week came and went and no Ultra model was announced. So what gives?

A report from WinFuture.de last week suggested that maybe development was canceled, but now a new report from GalaxyClub.nl suggests that it could still be alive and well. According to the report, Samsung has resumed firmware development on the handset. This indicates that Samsung is still interested in the device.

Before you get too excited, the publication notes that the resumption of the firmware development could indicate that a launch is still far away from happening. They speculate that at this rate, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra could launch either much later in the year, or possibly even in 2025.

A launch in 2025 could be a bit awkward. This is because 2025 will most likely introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 7, so at that point, we’re not sure what the point of an Ultra model will be. That being said, the previous rumors hinted that the price of the phone could be astronomical, so even if it launches this year, we’re not sure who would be willing to pay so much for it.

Either way, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully Samsung will have more details for us soon.
