OnePlus has confirmed that they will be hosting an event on the 16th of July where they will announce a bunch of new products. One of those products is a new mid-range handset in the form of the OnePlus Nord 4.

Now according to OnePlus, it seems that the upcoming Nord 4 smartphone will be eligible for 6 years of software updates. This means you’re covered for the next six years if you want to hold onto your phone. For context, the OnePlus Nord 3 only came with a total of 4 years of software updates.

The support for the Nord 4 includes four years of Android OS updates. Assuming it launches with Android 14, this means that it will receive updates until Android 18. Furthermore, OnePlus also states that the phone will receive six years of security patches, so you can rest assured that it will be relatively protected against the latest security threats out there.

We’re starting to see more handset OEMs extend the software support for their devices. Back in the day, getting 2-3 years of updates was more or less the standard. These days we’re seeing anywhere from 6-7 years being offered. If you’re interested in the Nord 4, check back with us next week for the details!
