Earlier this year, there was a rumor that Samsung could go all-in with its Exynos chipsets for the Galaxy S25. But now there is a new rumor. This new report suggests that Samsung could actually go in the other direction, where the Galaxy S25 lineup could be powered entirely by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
This comes from a post on X by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo claims that Qualcomm will most likely be the sole chipset supplier to Samsung for the Galaxy S25. Apparently the Exynos 2500, which is the chipset rumored to power the Galaxy S25, isn’t doing so well in terms of its yield.
Qualcomm will likely be the sole SoC supplier for the Samsung Galaxy S25 (vs. 40% for the S24), as the Exynos 2500 may not ship due to Samsung's lower-than-expected 3nm yield.

Samsung does have its own semiconductor foundries that they are using to produce chipsets built on the 3nm process. This post claims that the yield is lower than Samsung expected, which could force them to go with Qualcomm. For the Galaxy S23 models, Samsung exclusively used Qualcomm’s chipsets. But for the Galaxy S24, Samsung returned to using a mix of Qualcomm and its own Exynos chips.
This report is actually interesting. Kuo had recently suggested that Qualcomm could increase the price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This means that there is a chance Samsung could end up raising the prices for its Galaxy S25 phones.
