Opera Browsers are about to get an AI Boost with Gemini

0

Google’s recent announcements regarding its progress with its Gemini AI model have been all over the internet in the past couple of weeks, and it doesn’t look like these headlines are slowing down any time soon – in fact, Opera (yes, that Opera) recently announced that it will be partnering with Google to give the Opera One browser a much-welcome boost of AI.

To be clear though, Opera One already comes with Aria Browser AI, although this new team-up will integrate Gemini models within Aria. According to the company, this integration will be able to give users with “the most current information, at high performance.” Per Wetterdal, EVP Partnerships at Opera states:

Our companies have been cooperating for more than 20 years. We are excited to be announcing the deepening of this collaboration into the field of generative AI to further power our suite of browser AI services,”

Opera states that Aria (via Opera One Developer) can provide free image generation capabilities using the Imagen 2 model on Vertex AI. Users can also expect Opera AI to read out responses in a conversational-like fashion, which is made possible with Google’s text-to-audio model.
