For the longest time, Google’s Pixel phones came in two variants. There was the base model and a Pro model (it used to be formerly known as XL). But with the upcoming Google Pixel 9, it looks like Google could be expanding the lineup with a third model. They could also be bringing the XL name back.
This is according to a report from Android Central. The publication has received a bunch of cases from a company called Thinborne. These cases are allegedly for the upcoming Pixel 9 smartphones. Based on the units they received, it seems that the Pixel 9 could be offered in a base model, a Pro model, and a Pro XL model.
Unfortunately, these cases don’t really tell us how much bigger the Pro XL model could be. The case for the Pro XL model hints that the phone could be taller than the Pro model, but we’re not sure about the exact dimensions. What the cases do reveal is a potential slight change in design.
It seems that the side rails of the Pixel 9 smartphones will be flatter than its predecessor. Other than that, it looks like it could be more or less the same as the Pixel 8 series. Google’s next-gen Pixel phones won’t be announced until later in the year, so take this with a grain of salt.
