While the Xiaomi 14 isn’t exactly a brand-new Android smartphone, a lot of potential buyers haven’t exactly been able to get their hands on the phone due to it being exclusively available for China – that is until just recently. Xiaomi finally announced that the Xiaomi 14 will be available for more markets worldwide, priced starting at £849.
As far as looks go, the Xiaomi 14 retains the design elements of its predecessor, and comes with a compact 6.3-inch display with an impressive peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Additionally, it boasts a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, a standard feature in most current Android flagships. The phone maintains a glass and metal construction with flat edges, a design trend that we’ve been seeing more and more of lately.
On the back, the Xiaomi 14 houses a triple camera system comprising a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 15-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, while the screen houses a 32-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies. Xiaomi has closely worked with Leica to give users a much-improved mobile photography experience, with a variety of built-in camera modes which are exclusive to the 14 series.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14 is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the go-to processor for many 2024 Android flagships. While it does run Android 14, the phone comes with Xiaomi’s own HyperOS user interface that comes with several upgrades to Xiaomi’s apps, with a wide range of customization options. Xiaomi assures users of up to four years of major Android version upgrades, which should be ideal for folks who prefer to keep their phones for extended periods.
The phone comes in Black, White, and Jade Green variants, and will be available for purchase via Xiaomi’s official website.
