Oppo makes foldable phones. The company might not have as strong a presence in the foldable scene like Samsung, but they try. Recently, there have been rumors suggesting that Oppo is quitting the foldables game, but it turns out that the rumors were false.
According to a report from GSMArena, Oppo reached out to the publication to deny that they are not quitting the foldables market. “Oppo’s dedication to the continuous development of foldable smartphone technology remains unchanged. Please stay tuned for our official updates and announcements.”
The previous rumor claimed that both Oppo and Vivo would be getting out of making foldables. Apparently their market share in the foldables market fell significantly last year, leading them to decide to pull out. It is true that Samsung does command the lion’s share of foldable phones out there, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t space for the competition.
Other companies that are also in the foldables scene include Huawei, Google, OnePlus, Motorola, and if the rumors are true, Apple could be planning on stepping in in the future as well. Either way, the rumors of Oppo giving up on foldables is false. Hopefully the company will have something new to share later this year.
