While Android phones such as Google’s Pixel devices have built-in software that filters out spam calls and messages, there are times when a bit of extra help does come in handy. As such, AT&T recently announced that it has teamed up with TransUnion in launching a new service that helps users identify if an incoming call is from an actual business.
Powered by Neustar, the feature is dubbed “TruContact Branded Call Display,” and described by AT&T as a first in the industry. If a business is participating in the program, AT&T subscribers will be able to easily recognize callers instantly. Erin Scarborough, AT&T senior vice president of Mass Markets Product Management comments:
“We’re obsessed with giving our customers secure and trusted calls, so we’re excited to work with TransUnion for a richer, more helpful visual experience… And since we use STIR/SHAKEN verification, our customers will be able to connect with greater confidence to the brands they may want or need to connect with.”
Calls with branded logos will be verified using STIR/SHAKEN, a set of standards used to help confirm the number has not been illegally spoofed. Additionally, call recipients won’t need to install an additional app on their mobile phone to enable the function.
