At the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung officially confirmed that they are working on a smart ring. There have been rumors that Samsung is working on a smart ring called the Galaxy Ring, and a recent post on Threads by Avi Greengart has revealed some of the early details of the wearable.
The post claims that the wearable is apparently very lightweight. Greengart reports having hands-on experience with the device and states that, based on what he’s seen, it will come in three colors and be available in several ring sizes up to 13. He also says that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Ring later this year.
The latter information is in line with what we have been hearing, where it could launch later this year or potentially next year. Unfortunately, Greengart was not able to provide additional information about the Galaxy Ring. Based on the images, it does look like it could come with a heart rate monitor.
We also expect the smart ring to function more or less like a smartwatch. The main selling point here would be that it would act as a smaller and less obtrusive device for people who don’t like smartwatches, but still want the tracking features. We’re not sure how much this device could cost, so we’ll have to wait and see.
