There is a bit of art involved when it comes to posting Instagram Stories. Choosing a plain background won’t make your Stories stand out, which might reduce engagement, but it can be time-consuming trying to pick the perfect background.
Luckily for Instagram users, that won’t be a problem in the future. In the latest update to Instagram, it looks like the app will be getting an AI boost in the form of a new Stories feature called “Backdrop”. Basically what it does is that it relies on generative AI where users can now describe a background that they would like, and the AI will help generate something appropriate.
This is according to a post on Threads by Meta’s Generative AI chief, Ahmad Al-Dahle. That being said, we have some bad news regarding the feature. At this point in time, the feature is only available to users in the US, so for our readers outside of the US, you won’t be able to access it, at least for now.
We’re not sure when it is expected to roll out to other regions, but presumably it will eventually be available to all users. It’s a bit of a novelty feature, but if you want to make your Instagram Stories feel more personal and don’t want to spend too much time trying to find the perfect background, this could be a quick and easy fix.
