Xiaomi’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will launch in 2024

0

As we’re approaching the end of the year, there’s a good chance that we won’t be seeing too many major smartphone releases as most handset makers are probably waiting for 2024 to make their announcements. This could include the Xiaomi MIX Flip, a foldable phone in the flip form factor that the company is rumored to be working on.

This is according to a post on Weibo in which the tipster also hints that the handset might be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. If that’s true, we have to say we’re a little disappointed by this.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was recently announced and Xiaomi was actually the first to launch a handset powered by the chipset. We’re not sure why Xiaomi could opt to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but if we had to venture a guess, it might be due to them trying to keep costs low.

By using an “older” chipset, Xiaomi could bring the overall cost of the MIX Flip down which could make the phone more affordable compared to the competition. 2024 is expected to bring about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, so if Xiaomi can create a phone that’s cheaper than that it could be enough to sway customers over to their side.
