On X (formerly known as Twitter), if someone is harassing you or you don’t like that person, you can block them. This effectively stops them from viewing your profile and your posts, meaning that they no longer have access to your content, but it looks like that will soon no longer be possible.
This is according to a post by X’s owner Elon Musk who revealed that blocking users will soon be removed as a feature. Instead, users will only be able to mute other users which means that they still get to see your posts and make comments, you just won’t be able to see them, which we suppose could be good enough to a certain extent.
Block is going to be deleted as a “feature”, except for DMs

That being said, Musk does state that blocking will still work for DMs, which is a good thing from a safety perspective. This means that online trolls and other users who feel the need to still send you DMs can be blocked if you’d rather not receive messages from them in the future.
Another thing to note is that apparently, not allowing users to block other users could actually be a violation of the Apple App Store and Google Play Store’s policies, which could potentially see the removal of the apps from their respective stores. We’re not sure how Musk or X will approach this situation should it happen, but it could be interesting.
In the meantime, what do you think of this potential change?
