Following the launch of its new TicWatch Pro 5 smartwatch, wearable manufacturer Mobvoi recently announced that it was opening beta testing for its upcoming Wear OS 3 update, which will be open to selected applicants via a questionnaire. In a post on Twitter, Mobvoi listed several guidelines for aspiring beta testers should they be selected for the program:
- Please maintain high engagement throughout the duration of the internal beta testing phase.
- Confidentiality is required during the test period, and it is necessary to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
- During the evaluation phase, issue reports might necessitate the provision of video demonstrations and relevant log data. Users with experience in leveraging the functionalities of the Android Debug Bridge will receive prioritized consideration.
- 4. The testing is open for TicWatch Pro 3 (GPS & LTE), TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra (GPS & LTE), and TicWatch E3 users.
A few months back, Mobvoi issued a statement regarding the delay of its Wear OS 3 update, which was promised several months ago for devices including the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra and TicWatch E3. The company stated that the delay was in part due to the SDW4100 chipset and proprietary dual system architecture onboard, which require “architecture upgrades and performance debugging” in order to update compatible hardware.
In any case, it’s great to finally see some progress on Mobvoi’s Wear OS 3 update, especially since the platform has been made available to other competing devices earlier on.
