On the hunt for an electric SUV? Then you might want to be patient and wait a bit longer – Cadillac recently announced that it is currently developing an electric-powered variant of one of its most popular vehicles, the Escalade. The manufacturer says that this new model will be dubbed the “Escalade IQ,” with a full reveal to follow in late 2023.
As for specifics, no other details were given about the upcoming vehicle. Cadillac did previously mention the launch of three new EVs for next year, in which case it shouldn’t be too surprising to see the IQ become part of that lineup. No pricing was given either, but given that an Escalade usually starts at around $80,000, we might see a significant price increase with the IQ given the technology onboard.
It is likely though that the Escalade IQ might use a similar BT1 architecture, in addition to Ultium batteries as well as drive units. For context, a lot of the same technology is packed into the GMC Hummer EV, as well as the Chevrolet Silverado.
As for the IQ branding, it’s generally thought that this decision was made to keep the new vehicle in line with other Cadillac EVs including the “Celestiq” and the “Lyriq.” In any case, we’ll have to wait for a bit more information about the Escalade IQ until Cadillac makes a formal announcement of sorts.
