Sony’s recent announcement of the Xperia 1 V showed us that the Japanese tech giant still firmly believes in the power of its Xperia smartphone range, giving fans a healthy dose of Android goodness in addition to a powerful camera and chipset. And while the 1 V was the star of Sony’s stage, the company also unveiled a more affordable companion to its flagship handset.
Known as the Xperia 10 V, the phone sits on the lower-end of Sony’s Xperia range, offering consumers a more budget-friendly price, and taking on competing smartphones like the Google Pixel 7a and Samsung Galaxy A54, to name a couple.
In terms of specs, the phone shares a lot with its predecessor, including the plastic design that houses a 6.21-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 2520 x 1080 resolution. Other similarities include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, a 5000 mAh battery, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and 3.5mm headphone jack.
There are some upgrades however, in terms of camera – the Xperia 10 V comes with a 48-megapixel main sensor, a big step-up from the 12MP shooter found on last year’s Xperia 10 IV. This works in tandem with an 8MP telephoto and ultrawide lens, in addition to an 8MP front-facing camera.
The phone is currently listed on Sony’s website, although there’s no specified price at the moment. Interested buyers can sign-up to be informed when the pre-order period begins.
