Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 12 series last October, but the company has just announced the new Redmi Note 12 Turbo and has yet to finish narrowing down its lineup. Despite being a mid-range phone, Xiaomi has added extra flair to the phone’s special Harry Potter edition thanks to its partnership with Warner Bros.
On paper, the phone is pretty remarkable. It is powered by the new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset, which offers 50x better CPU performance than its previous generation along with increased GPU gains and efficiency. This chip should compete with many cheap Android phones. The Note 12 Turbo also comes in a variety of configurations, with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1 TB of storage available.
The collector’s edition box that the phone comes in does not disappoint. It is decked out in the traditional Hogwarts colours. It comes with the ever-coveted Hogwarts admissions letter and a plethora of accessories and collectables. The phone itself has a Harry Potter theme on the back and extra software like custom boot animations, wallpapers, and themes.
It would be remiss to cover this without mentioning the controversy surrounding the franchise. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo Harry Potter Edition is only available in a 12GB + 256GB configuration and retails for 2,399 CNY in China. Prices for other Note 12 Turbo models range from 1,999 yuan to 2,599 yuan depending on the configuration. At this time, there is no word on international pricing or availability.
