In the past, we would see phones launch with IR blasters built into them. This was a pretty cool and convenient feature for some because it allowed users to use their phones to interact with compatible devices, like a TV, set top box, or radio.
These days, it’s not a particularly common feature to find in a phone, but apparently OnePlus wants to bring it back. According to a report from MySmartPrice, the company is expected to launch the OnePlus 11R in 2023 where one of the phone’s features is an IR blaster, making it the first OnePlus handset to come with it.
We’re not sure what are the company’s intentions behind launching an IR blaster in a phone in 2023, but if you think that this is something you might be able to use, then this could be a phone to look out for
In terms of the rest of the phone’s specs, word on the street has it that it will apparently be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, an odd choice given that the Gen 2 has already been announced. It will also feature the use of LPDDR5 RAM, sport a triple camera setup, and also pack a 5,000mAh battery.
The OnePlus 11R is also expected to be announced alongside the OnePlus 11. There was no mention of a launch date, but given that the OnePlus 10 Pro was announced early in 2022, we expect the OnePlus 11 and 11R should also be announced in the early part of 2023.
