WhatsApp now lets you create your own digital avatars

0

It was previously reported earlier this year that WhatsApp was working on allowing users to create their own avatars. For those unfamiliar, right now the only way users can set their profile picture is by taking a photo or choosing from their phone’s gallery, but this avatar feature will give users more customization options if they want a digital representation of themselves.

The good news is that if you’ve been looking forward to this feature, then you’ll be pleased to learn that WhatsApp has announced on their website that its avatar creation tool is now live for all users.

Users will be able to create their own avatars within WhatsApp and choose from a myriad of customization options including skin color, eye color, eye shape, face shape, body shape, piercings, and there are also a bunch of different cultural outfits that users can choose that they might feel better represents who they are.

In addition to this, once the user has created their own avatar, stickers will also automatically be created. There will be 36 different custom stickers to choose from. In a way, this is reminiscent of Apple’s Memoji feature and Samsung’s AR-based emoji feature, so if you’re familiar with those, then this shouldn’t be too much of a learning curve.
