Older Nest cameras will get better Google Home support soon

0

For those who have bought some of Nest’s newer cameras, it works perfectly with the Google Home app and you get a lot of functionality out of it. For those who own an older Nest camera, integration with the Home app is limited.

Basically you can see your video stream and turn it on or off, but that’s about it. The good news is that Google isn’t forgetting about you. If you’re the own of an older Nest camera that doesn’t have full Home support, that will change in the future as Google has stated that over the next year, they will be adding support for legacy devices.

“Over the last year, we’ve focused on building the right camera experience in Google Home app for our latest Nest cameras and doorbells and over the next year we are committed to add support for our legacy Nest cameras too.”

This means that if you’d rather use one app and consolidate all your smart home devices under Google Home instead of switching between multiple apps, this update is one that you can look forward to. Google has been making some changes to its Home app, with the latest update bringing the app onto the web which allows users to access their video feed through their desktop’s browser instead of having to use their smartphone, tablet, or smart display.
