Seeing how competitive the Android smartphone market is at the moment, it’s not surprising that there aren’t that many new smartphone makers willing to dip their toes into the space, but several years ago, a company called Essential tried to break into the market with the Essential Phone before fizzling out.

For those who were a fan of the phone and the company behind it, you might be interested to learn that some of the designers have since banded together to form a new company – OSOM, and have announced their upcoming flagship smartphone, the Saga.

According to a tweet by the company, they have revealed the specs of the phone. The Saga handset will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and will feature the use of a 6.67-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will also come with 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage that can be further expanded via microSD, a 4,110mAh battery, IP68 dust and water resistance, and will also be made with a stainless steel frame and a ceramic back.

Further details on its website have also revealed that this is a “pure” Android smartphone with web3 features and will apparently be aimed at “defi pros, NFT collectors, and the most demanding crypto enthusiasts”. Those who are keen can actually pre-order the phone here and place a $100 deposit (the final price is $1,000) and the handset is expected to ship out in the early part of 2023.
