We’re sure that there are many users who bought the Samsung Galaxy S21 and are looking forward to the Galaxy S23 next year to make their upgrade. If you are, then you might want to temper your expectations because if the latest leaks are to be believed, it won’t be a particularly exciting upgrade.
This leak comes from Yogesh Brar who shared the alleged specs of the Galaxy S23 in a Twitter post where it appears that for the most part, the phone will remain the same as the Galaxy S22 except for its chipset where it will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The display size, refresh rate, and the cameras all appear to remain the same.
Samsung Galaxy S23
(rumoured)– 6.1" FHD+ sAMOLED, 120Hz
– Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC
– Rear Cam: 50MP (OIS) + 12MP (UW) + 10MP (Tele)
– Front Cam: 10MP
– 8GB RAM
– 128/256GB storage
– Android 13, OneUI 5
– 3,900mAh battery, 25W wired, 15W wireless charging— Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) October 18, 2022
To be fair, the Galaxy S22 did introduce new cameras so it wasn’t very likely that Samsung will be introducing newer camera hardware this quickly. This means that in terms of camera performance, it will be identical to the Galaxy S22 except maybe the software might be different and we will see new camera modes.
If you’re looking to upgrade from the Galaxy S22, the changes don’t appear to be that different to warrant an upgrade. Even if you’re coming from the Galaxy S21, you might be better off buying the Galaxy S22 which should be even more discounted by then. That being said, these are just rumors so they’re probably best taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.
