0

It’s not uncommon for a lot of smartphone users to reset their smartphone from time to time. In the case of the Pixel 6, you might want to reset your device to give it a fresh start after upgrading to Android 13, or maybe you want to get ready to trade in your device towards the new Pixel 7. Whatever the case may be, we’re here to help you out – let’s get started!

Should You Reset your Phone?

Resetting a smartphone often allows it to start anew, without any additional third-party apps or files to slow it down, or sometimes it just needs a quick restart to get recover from freezing, or when particular features suddenly go awry. In general, there are two different ways to reset your device:

Restart/Reboot: sometimes referred to as a “soft reset,” this simply turns your phone on and off, allowing it to recover from freezes, constant app crashes, unexpected performance bugs, and such. Try imagining those times when you’d get lost while walking down a busy street, and wishing to go back all over again from the beginning just to find the right path towards your destination – this is sort of like that.

Reset: Also known as “factory reset” or “hard reset,” this will erase everything on your phone, including apps, settings, files, photos, and such. It’s advised that you back up your files to your PC, or online via cloud storage services.
