Meet “Circular,” Nokia’s New Subscription Service

0

“When less is wasted, everybody wins” – this is the tagline used by Finnish smartphone manufacturer Nokia to promote its new subscription service, called “Circular.” Circular was the subject of online leaks and rumors a while back, as it was a fairly unexpected move on Nokia’s behalf. With that said, it comes with a lot of benefits for Nokia users who wish to enroll in the new subscription service.

According to Nokia, Circular will focus on sustainability and the reduction of e-waste. Subscribers will be able to choose from a select number of Nokia devices, donate to environmental charities via “Seeds of Tomorrow,” instant replacement services for lost or stolen phones, and add a SIM plan to their chosen handset.

Subscribing to the service is mostly a straightforward affair – users will be asked to choose from a specific lineup of devices available with Circular, which will be paid for in monthly installments. It should be noted however that at this point in time, only a few Nokia models are listed as choices.

Circular was unveiled during IFA 2022, alongside Nokia’s latest batch of smart devices, including the Nokia X30 5G handset, which comes with midrange hardware specs and software support for up to three years (coincidentally, the phone isn’t available through Circular at this point in time).
