Most true wireless earbuds these days all kind of look and feel the same, with the main differences being its sound quality and battery life, but it looks like JBL is pushing the boundaries of design with its latest pair of earbuds, the JBL Tour Pro 2.
The actual earbuds themselves don’t look all that different, but one of the main changes we’re seeing is to the charging case in which JBL has built a touchscreen into it. With this touchscreen display, users will be able to see more detailed information about their earbuds like its battery percentage, as well as receive calls, messages, get notifications from their phone, and also control music playback.
If you think about it, this is kind of like a smartwatch, except that it’s embedded into the charging case of the earbuds itself. It feels kind of like a novelty, but not necessarily in a bad way and it also makes the charging case a lot more functional other than just being a place to store your earbuds when not in use.
As for the earbuds themselves, they will feature active noise-cancellation and feature new 10mm drivers, a significant step up from the previous model which had 6.8mm drivers. It also features Bluetooth 5.3 and will boast 10 hours of battery life per use, and up to 40 hours in total when combined with the charging case.
The JBL Tour Pro 2 earbuds will be priced at €249/£220 and are only expected to be released in January 2023.
