Sony’s next Xperia smartphone will be announced next week

0

While Sony isn’t as active as other handset manufacturers when it comes to pushing out new phones, they are still making an effort. In fact, if you’re a Sony fan and want to see what the company could be up to next, then you might want to mark your calendars for the 1st of September.

This is because Sony has confirmed that they will be hosting an event on the 1st of September at 4PM Japan time where they will be announcing a new phone. The confirmation comes in the form of a new music video that Sony created in collaboration with artist Cat Burns where the video itself was actually shot using the Sony phone.

While it was not explicitly mentioned what the phone will be, it is speculated to be the Sony Xperia 5 IV. The handset was recently spotted at the FCC and it is believed that it will most likely launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset in tow, and that it could pack a trio of 12MP cameras on the back.

We’re not sure what else the phone could be packing, so we’ll just have to wait and see. It actually wasn’t too long ago that Sony announced the Xperia 5 III, so it’s interesting that they could be following up with a new model less than a year later.
