Honor to show off its new “connected” ecosystem at IFA on September 2

0

Honor’s been on the comeback trail this year. After launching a new flagship lineup in Barcelona during Mobile World Congress, the company has now announced that it will be participating in the official IFA Keynote lineup on September 2 in Berlin.

While we don’t yet know exactly what Honor will be unveiling during the show, the invitation graphic does give us a bit of a teaser, highlighting a “connected future” while showing icons for a pair of earbuds, tablet, smartphone and laptop. None of these categories are new for Honor, but this could signal new hardware for these categories or a more-integrated ecosystem play that would allow more interoperability between the devices.

The latest reports show that Honor has increased its market share in China from 7.7% to 18.3% in the second quarter of this year, despite overall smartphone sales decreasing 14% in the quarter. This dramatic surge has thrust Honor into the second spot in the Chinese market. Despite that success, Honor still has its work cut out for it in Europe as it lags far behind its top competitors.

If you’re excited to see what Honor has in store for us next, be sure to mark September 2 on your calendar. We’ll be attending the Honor press event at IFA in September and will hopefully get some hands-on time with any new devices or software that are unveiled at the show.
