New Social Features and Raid Updates Headed to Pokémon GO

0

The team over at Pokémon GO has announced new updates to the game, in the form of social features for trainers, as well as raid battle bonuses and changes to the game’s shop. The announcement comes after the reveal of the “Alola to Alola” season finale event.

Over the next few months, social features will be gradually added to the game, with the intent of making communication easier for players in exploring new communities and taking part in local raid battles. Some of the features are originally based in a separate Niantic app, and have undergone testing prior to the announcement.

Additionally, successful local raids will now feature Mega Energy and Rare Candy XL as rewards, which should make it easier for players to evolve and strengthen their roster. The in-game shop will see some changes as well, as the PokéCoin Event Box will no longer include Remote Raid Passes, in lieu of a rotating set of items, which will be effective starting on May 23.

The announcement adds, “Trainers all over the world have helped Pokémon GO continue to thrive and grow over the past two years. Now, we’re excited to get back to playing together in person. To support players who have difficulty reaching Gyms, we will continue to work on solutions such as tools for community leaders to organize local events and faster approval for new Gyms.”
